Psychological astrology isn't a forecast. It's a map of who you already are.
Including the parts of you that you learned to keep quiet, and the reason a life that looks right from the outside still doesn't feel like yours.
Start with the free self-reflectionI'm Noel, a psychological astrologer. I spent years as a banker in London, and I thought astrology was nonsense.
You did everything you were told to. So why does it feel like someone else's life?
From the outside nothing looks wrong, and that's exactly why you can't explain it to anyone. Every morning you leave parts of yourself at the door: the real opinions, the bigger feelings, the whole of you that doesn't fit the room. You've done it for so long that you're no longer sure what's underneath.
You've tried to think your way out. More time, another plan, next year. It hasn't worked, and it won't, because you can't see a pattern while you're standing inside it. You need to see it from the outside. That's what a map is for.
A map of you, not a prediction about you
Most people hear “astrology” and think of horoscopes: a paragraph written about a new planet, telling you what's coming. That's not what I do, and it isn't what psychological astrology is.
Psychological astrology reads your birth chart as a map of your inner life. Every part of you wants to be lived: your drive, your tenderness, your voice, your need for freedom. Your chart shows which of those parts you're living fully, which ones you've put away, and what you can actually do about it.
Two examples. Your Moon is the part of you that's about what you needed to feel safe as a child, and what you still reach for when life gets hard. Your Mars is your anger and your drive: the part of you that says no and goes after what it wants. A lot of the people I work with have kept one of those two quiet for years. They feel it as being unmotivated, stuck or lost.
It isn't
- A horoscope written for everyone born in the same month
- A forecast of what's going to happen to you
- Someone else telling you what to do with your life
It is
- A map of who you already are
- A clear look at the patterns that keep repeating
- The starting point for decisions that actually fit you
Used like this, it never takes your power away. It hands it back to you.
The tradition behind it is depth psychology. It runs from Carl Jung, who saw in astrology a store of ancient psychological knowledge, to Liz Greene, who co-founded the Centre for Psychological Astrology in London in 1983.
Four things you can't see from inside your own life
The parts of you that you've put away
Which parts of you got put away, and what keeping them there is costing you now.
Why the same things keep happening
The pattern underneath the job you keep choosing, the role you keep falling into, and the decision you keep putting off.
What you're actually built for
What kind of work and life fit the person you are, so the next move stops feeling like a gamble and starts feeling obvious.
What to do about it
Practical next steps. Insight you don't act on is a more interesting way of staying stuck.
There's a gap between who you really are and the version of yourself you show the world all day.
I call it the Authenticity Gap. Living in it has a cost. It's why you're tired in a way no holiday fixes, and it doesn't close on its own.
You didn't build it at work. You learned it long before your first job, back when being the calm, capable one was how you earned love. As a child, that was the right call. You're not a child anymore, and you're still making it every day. The job pays you well to keep doing it, and you've let it.
You're not living your life. You're living the version of you that learned to keep everyone else happy. That version can be rewired.
A chart shows you where yours is widest. Closing it is your part.
Noel Garcia · Psychological astrologer, former London banker
I didn't believe in this either
I spent years as a banker in London, and I thought astrology was nonsense. Horoscopes at the back of a magazine. Nothing a serious person would pay attention to.
Then my wife, back when she was working at a bank in London, went to see two different astrologers. Both of them saw the same thing in her: that she was a healer and belonged in medicine or healing work. At 29 she changed careers completely. Today she's a doctor and an Ayurvedic therapist. What got me wasn't that anyone predicted anything. It was that both of them could see who she already was, years before she let herself see it.
It took me longer to see it in my own life. For years I told myself I liked banking. I didn't. I told myself I was staying for the salary. I wasn't. I was scared, and I'd dressed the fear up as being sensible. Astrology was one of the things that showed me where to look.
I've worked with it for fourteen years now, and it's where my work with clients begins. I'm not asking you to believe in astrology. I'm asking you to look at the map and judge it by one thing: is what it shows you true?
The thing people say to me most often: “It’s like you knew me better than I know myself.”
“Specific, intelligent and genuinely useful rather than vague or generic… grounded, thoughtful and perceptive.”Bryan L. · Google review
“So many light-bulb moments as to why situations, emotions and patterns keep repeating themselves. I've left feeling ready to turn this ship around.”Jessica G. · Google review
“I could not stop thinking that Noel really knew me — even better than myself.”Konstantina B. · Google review
“If you want clarity about your career, get a reading — you'll be saying: why didn't I do this before?”Awilda S. · Google review
The questions sceptics ask
Is psychological astrology a science?
No, and I don't pretend it is. No study proves that your chart describes you. What I can tell you is what happens in a session: people recognise themselves, often in the parts they've never said out loud to anyone. Judge it the way you'd judge any good question, by whether the answer is true for you and whether it helps you decide.I was also spkeptical but when I saw it work consistently in many different situations I was convinced even if science is not yet 100% clear on how it happens.
Do I have to believe in astrology for this to work?
No. Bring your scepticism with you; I had plenty of my own. You'll know quickly whether what you're hearing is about you or could be about anyone.
Will you tell me what's going to happen?
No. I don't make predictions, and I won't tell you what to do. Actually, the aim is to empower you. I'll show you who you are, what keeps repeating, and what's asking for your attention now. The decisions stay yours. That's the point.
How is this different from coaching or therapy?
Coaching works when you already know what you want, and helps you get there. Therapy helps you work through what happened to you, usually over months or years. A psychological astrology reading starts somewhere else, with who you are underneath, and gives you a clear picture of that in a single session. It doesn't replace therapy, although I have had people tell me that one astrology reading has helped them more than months of psychotherapy - the reason is that psychological astrology gives you clarity on who you are and then its much easier to make decisions. Of course, if there is trauma astrology can explain the origin but then psychotherapy can be helpful and will work better after its clear what needs to be worked on.
How is it different from my horoscope?
A horoscope is written for everyone born in the same month. Your chart is drawn from the position of the planets at an exact date, time and place you were born, so it's about you and nobody else. Each natal chart is unique. And I read it as a map of your inner life, not a forecast.
What do I need for a reading?
Your date, time and place of birth. The time matters, so if you don't know it, check your birth certificate or ask your family before you book. But if you don't have your time, we can also draw a chart of you and you can obtain plenty of very useful information.
You already know something's off. Find out where.
A map won't make the decision for you. What it does is take away the excuse that you can't see which way to go.
If you recognised yourself on this page, start with the Authenticity Gap self-reflection. It's a free, self-scoring workbook. Answer it honestly and you'll see, in your own words, how wide yours has got.
